Contemporary Learning
Teaching practices at Sacred Heart are driven by what research states are the factors which allow students the best opportunity to learn. Ours is a culture of collaboration, where we not only teach content, but skills such as working interdependently and problem solving that will assist students for life. Our class practice is constantly evolving so that the students are exposed to what research says makes the greatest difference in their learning.
Sacred Heart uses contemporary learning practices, as evidenced by our open and flexible work spaces, and our use of modern teaching aides, such as chromebooks, laptops and the use of Google App technology. This, combined with an Inquiry approach to learning experiences, allows for engaged students who are creative, problem solvers, and who are socially informed. When students are engaged, they will ask questions, they will make connections and informed decisions, which leads to deeper and more personal understanding of concepts. Along with this deeper understanding, we teach our students skills that will last them for life, such as being persistent, working with others, being creative and thinking flexibly.
At Sacred Heart Primary much work has gone into ensuring our pedagogy is sound and our classroom practices are research based and provide learning experiences that are cater for individuals. Our teachers plan, implement and assess learning experiences together, so as to provide consistency, engagement and to ensure that best practice is achieved.
